THE SOFTWARE TOOLWORKS TO INTRODUCE 30 NEW PRODUCTS AT SUMMER CES; GREATEST NUMBER OF NEW PRODUCTS ANNOUNCED IN COMPANY'S HISTORY

 NOVATO, Calif., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Software Toolworks (NASDAQ: TWRX), a leader in entertainment and edutainment software and the world's largest supplier of CD-ROM software, today announced plans to introduce their new products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Chicago, June 3-6, 1993. Thirty CD-ROM, disk and cartridge products will be unveiled in booth no. 6717, making it the greatest number of new products announced at one time, in one quarter, since the company was founded in 1986.
 13 New CD-ROM Products
 "Mario Is Missing(TM) Deluxe" is the first in a series of educational PC CDs for children ages 8 through 12 which stars the famous Nintendo Mario Bros. "Mario Is Missing" is a geography-based edutainment product which challenges children to identify 25 cities around the world as they search for the missing Mario. The Deluxe version has sound, video, digitized pictures and another 10 cities to explore.
 "The San Diego Zoo(TM) Presents ... The Animals!(TM)" will be shown on the Macintosh(R), and 3DO(TM) Interactive Multiplayer(TM) platforms. "The Animals!" is an entertaining, educational tour of the San Diego Zoo and includes descriptions of hundreds of animals, over an hour of synchronized video and sound, and 3,000 pages of text. The product was developed by Arnowitz Inc. in conjunction with The Software Toolworks. The MPC version introduced a few months ago was the first commercially available product developed using Microsoft's Video for Windows(TM) technology. It also recently won two Invision Awards from New Media Magazine.
 "Newsweek InterActive(TM)" for MS DOS CD-ROM drive. This is the first major general-interest magazine to be published in a quarterly, multimedia CD-ROM format. Through its interactive documentaries you will experience motion video, audio, animation and photo essays. Explore topics such as "Unfinished Business: Mending the Earth" and "Bye-Bye Baseball?", plus a library of Newsweek and Washington Post articles to add additional reference and educational value. More than just a periodical, "Newsweek InterActive" offers topics and information of enduring interest in a format that engages the user like never before.
 "The Guinness Multimedia Disc of Records 1993(TM)" for MPC, Macintosh and DOS is an electronic reference source which includes motion sequences, photos and illustrations, voice-overs and sound effects describing a large collection of record-setting events.
 Version 4.0 of "The Software Toolworks(R) World Atlas" for MPC provides current information on 200 countries including recent changes in the former Soviet Union. Video, photographs, sound and animation are included.
 Version 3.0 of "The Software Toolworks(R) U.S. Atlas" for Macintosh provides newly updated reference data on all 50 states and 3,140 counties. Sound and animation are included.
 The Software Toolworks has entered into a strategic alliance with Amazing Media(TM) of San Anselmo, Calif., to launch a series of three new multimedia CD-ROM adventure products. Each product will be produced in MS DOS, MPC and Macintosh(R) formats.
 "Space Shuttle" is an interactive multimedia experience from an astronaut's point of view. The user is transported to the Johnson Space Center for training and then joins the crew on more than 50 Space Shuttle missions. Participate in all aspects of the trip through NASA and experience the most advanced and intriguing spacecraft ever built.
 "Oceans Below(TM)" is a comprehensive video and photographic underwater experience. After selecting an ocean to explore, you visit shipwrecks, see underwater formations and watch colorful fish swim -- all from the firsthand perspective of a scuba diver. Additionally, "Oceans Below" will be shown on the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer.
 "Capitol Hill" puts the user in the role of a Congressperson in Washington, D.C. Users meet their congressional staffs, learn to communicate with their peers and vote on bills. A walking tour of the Capitol will allow users to turn right, left or move forward and select parts of the building they wish to learn about. Video clips, audio narrations and photographs add to the realism of the experience.
 Six New Disk Products
 "Star Wars Chess(TM)" for the IBM PC will be shown for the first time at CES. The characters from the Star Wars trilogy arrive for your chess game in "Star Wars Chess." Original art, digitized film footage, and state-of-the-art computer coding make Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, R2D2, Darth Vader and other famous characters come to life on a chessboard. The Software Toolworks has been a leader in chess game technology for years. It created the "Chessmaster(TM)" series which has sold 1.5 million copies since its introduction.
 "Mario Is Missing(TM) City Disk" for IBM PCs provides 10 additional cities for the "Mario Is Missing" disk version described above.
 Version 4.0 of "The Software Toolworks(R) World Atlas" described above, will also be shown for the first time on the Windows platform.
 "The Software Toolworks(R) U.S. Atlas," also described above, will offer a Version 3.0 for Macintosh users and a Version 4.0 for Windows users.
 "Game Pack III" for the PC environment includes five games in one package -- "Jack Nicklaus' Unlimited Golf and Course Design(TM)," "F-19 Stealth Fighter(R)," "Road & Track(R)," "Presents Grand Prix Unlimited(TM)," "Life & Death(R)" and "Gin King/Cribbage King(R)."
 11 New Cartridge Games
 "Mario Is Missing," an edutainment product featuring Nintendo's Mario Bros. characters now on cartridge. (NES, SNES)
 In "Captain America and the Avengers(TM)," the famous Marvel comics' character saves the world from Red Skull, the diabolical genius who has invented a super evil mind control device. Six levels with extra secret levels to explore, power-ups, extra lives and single or two players options are included. (NES)
 "Food Fight(TM)" (working title) challenges Pierre Le Chef to capture angry ingredients including disease monsters and insects, plus special foods from any one of the six countries he visits. Le Chef is forced to deal with Noir, his arch rival, who will do anything he can to destroy Le Chef's soup! Over 1,000 frames of character animations are included. (SNES)
 "Battleship(TM)" lets players command a fleet of five ships which stalk enemies through unfriendly waters. Ships can be spotted from the air and can carry depth charges. And, they can find enemies visually or by using sonar. (NES)
 "Super Battleship(TM)" offers all of the playing fun in "Battleship" described above. In addition, this version lets players control shots, fire missiles and watch through the in-missile camera, and select from other unique points of view. "Super Battleship" emphasizes great graphics sequences. (SNES, Genesis)
 "Championship Power Pool(TM)" lets players challenge a computer or up to seven human opponents. Choose from multiple-viewing angles and zoom-in features while playing 8-Ball, 9-Ball, straight pool or 14 different specialty games. (NES, SNES, GB)
 "Wing Commander Secret Missions(TM)" has 16 new missions with the cinematic, 3-dimensional feel of the original "Wing Commander(TM)" but with four new attack ships and stunning new graphics. The wicked Kilrathi have a new mega-weapon which can vaporize an entire planet. (SNES)
