THE SOFTWARE TOOLWORKS STRIKES NEW ALLIANCES WITH NINTENDO AND GROLIERS;
 ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL PRODUCTS AND LICENSING AGREEMENTS
 NOVATO, Calif., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Software Toolworks Inc. (NASDAQ: TWRX), a leading publisher of education, entertainment, and productivity software, has announced that it has reached a new agreement with Grolier Electronic Publishing, which is expected to boost the company's CD-ROM business. In addition, the company has expanded its previously announced relationship with Nintendo to include four new edutainment categories.
 Under the terms of its new agreement with Grolier Electronic Publishing, The Software Toolworks retains exclusive rights to offer "The New Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia" to OEMs worldwide under the title "The Software Toolworks Multimedia Encyclopedia." Three OEM versions of "The New Groliers Multimedia Encyclopedia" will be marketed by The Software Toolworks: a multimedia version for the Macintosh; a DOS version for IBM users; and a version for Windows Multimedia Personal Computer (MPC). In addition, the agreement provides the company with worldwide distribution rights for a retail version of the software.
 On Jan. 9, 1992, The Software Toolworks and Nintendo of America jointly announced a worldwide (except Japan) agreement allowing The Software Toolworks to develop geography-based edutainment products using the Mario Bros. characters. These products will be for IBM and compatible personal computers, Macintosh, Amiga and CD-ROM and multimedia computer formats, as well as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and the Super NES. The new agreements expand the breadth of product line beyond an initial geography product to include history, mathematics, reading and early learning on the same broad range of computer and video game formats. The products will target the growing edutainment market by providing challenging and entertaining learning products for children.
