THE RIVAL COMPANY DECLARES DIVIDEND

 KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rival Company (NASDAQ: RIVL) announced that the board of directors at its regular quarterly meeting declared a dividend of $0.04 per share, payable on Dec. 15, 1993, to shareholders of record at the close of business on Dec. 1, 1993. Future dividends will be considered by the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis.
 Thomas K. Manning, president and chief executive officer of Rival said, "We are pleased that our recent success and improved financial condition permits the payment of this dividend for our shareholders while still retaining funds adequate for our expansion plans. I hope our shareholders perceive the dividend as one more measure of the maturity and financial stability of Rival."
 The Rival Company is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of small household appliances, personal care appliances and sump, well and utility pumps. The company sells its products under the Rival(R), Simer(R) and Pollenex(R) brand names.
