THE READER'S DIGEST ASSOCIATION NAMES MILAN KOFOL VICE PRESIDENT AND TREASURER

 PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Milan Kofol, 42, has been named vice president and treasurer for the Reader's Digest Association, Inc., effective Feb. 23.
 Reporting to Chief Financial Officer Anthony W. Ruggiero, Kofol will be responsible for the company's global treasury functions, including cash and investment portfolio management, currency exchange and banking relations. He succeeds Ross Jones, who is joining Knight-Ridder as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
 For the past, Kofol had been vice president and treasurer for American Home Products Corporation, a $7 billion global pharmaceutical and consumer products company. He was responsible for managing all domestic and international treasury functions, including debt and equity financing, foreign exchange, interest rate exposure management, cash and investment portfolio management and banking relations.
 Previously, Kofol spent five years as deputy treasurer for American Home Products and was assistant treasurer from 1985 to 1987. He also served 10 years in a variety of U.S. and international financial and management positions for the company's Boyle Midway consumer products division, including operating position's in Europe and South America. Kofol began his career with the company in 1975 as an internal auditor.

 A certified public accountant,, Kofol received his bachelor's degree in history from Presbyterian College in 1973. He received his master's degree in business administration from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1975.
 Kofol lives with his wife and four children in Bronxville, N.Y.
