THE RAZ : Marcus loves Holly dollies.

ACTOR Marcus Patric who plays Ben in teen soap Holly oaks says he loves working on set because he's surrounded by so many attractive blondes.

But that hasn't stopped him from thinking about leaving the series.

Marcus, who was at Glasgow's Destiny nightclub this weekend, told the Razz that working on the soap is like being at university.

Although he is going out with Holly oaks actress Sarah Jayne Dunn, who plays Mandy Lee, hunky Marcus admits: ''The amount of beautiful women on set makes Holly oaks a nice place to work. It's like uni, only you get paid. There are a lot of blondes and we all have a laugh. It can be quite hormonal.

''Just recently two people got caught on a set getting quite friendly. It was a bedroom set, but I'm not saying who it belonged to.''

Marcus, who was nominated for sexiest male at the British Soap Awards, says he's more shy than his cocky character Ben. He says: ''People expect me to act like Ben in certain situations. I get thongs and knickers and topless photos sent to me. My mum helps with my fan mail.''

Although Marcus has been seeing Sarah Jayne for three years, he says he has no intention of copying his character Ben, who has just got married in the soap.

Marcus lives with fellow actors Darren Jeffries and Alex Carter and enjoys going out on the town with them.

He says: ''It's three lads in a flat in Manchester and we're quite near to town. Although I have mellowed since my relationship, that doesn't mean I don't still go out.

''I'm still only 24 but I won't be doing a Ben and getting married. It's not for me. I'm enjoying myself too much just now.''

However, Marcus does hope to move on from the soap when he gets the chance. He says: ''I am staying at Holly oaks for the time being, but I want to move on. Although there is a temptation to stay, I want to do something else.

''Holly oaks had been the first thing to put me on the map, but I don't want to play Ben characters all the time. I'll need to go back into the rat race.''

He'd like to play other types of role and admires former Holly oaks star Gary Lucy for the career decisions he's made.

Says Marcus: ''Gary has done well and it would be nice to do something like that. He auditioned for Footballers' Wives when he was still in Holly oaks and he went straight into another job.

''At Holly oaks the pace is so intense that there is no time to audition at the moment and don't think I'll just walk into another job.''
