THE RAZ: I'm Annie, and this is Oscar...

Byline: LEE-ANN FULLERTON AND BEVERLEY LYONS

DELIGHTED Annie Lennox made a triumphant return to Britain yesterday after winning the Oscar for best song at the Academy Awards in Hollywood. Proudly clutching her gold statuette as she arrived at Heathrow airport from Los Angeles, Annie said: 'It's just lovely... like a little special gift.' Annie, 49, received the Oscar for the song Into The West from Lord Of The Rings. Wearing a leopardskin patterned coat, Annie said: 'The people from the Lord Of The Rings have been on the project for seven years and I only came in in the last few months. 'But in a way the song that was written was the signature the signing off so it is very significant in a sense.' Asked where she intends to keep the Oscar, Annie said: 'Most of my awards are just put into storage. But I'll have to find a special shelf for this one.'
