THE PRESIDENT OF ADVANCED RESOURCES TECHNOLOGIES SENTENCED

BOSTON, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The President of Advanced Resources Technologies, Inc., (ART") was sentenced late yesterday for his role in an advance fee scheme which defrauded customers of approximately $160,000.
U.S. Attorney A. John Pappalardo announced that United States District Judge Douglas P. Woodlock yesterday sentenced Craig S. Clark, age 43, of 25 Tower Hill Road, North Reading, to a period of incarceration of 24 months in connection with a scheme to defraud customers of his various corporations.
At a previously held change of plea hearing a federal prosecutor had told Judge Woodlock that Clark, as President of ART, solicited down payments to secure the sale of sophisticated computer assembly equipment, but never produced the equipment and, in fact, never possessed the equipment in the first place. CLARK advertised that he had various pieces of equipment to sell, including an Excellon Mark V Driller/Router priced at approximately $70,000. Five separate companies sought to purchase the driller/router and made deposits totalling approximately $140,000. Clark falsely stated to the potential buyers that he owned the equipment and that he would deliver it upon his receipt of the down payment. Clark, in fact, never delivered the equipment and never returned the down payments to the buyers.
At the sentencing hearing, Judge Woodlock held Clark accountable for conducting his fraudulent scheme against companies not charged in the Information and ordered that Clark pay restitution to 13 victims of the scheme in an amount totalling approximately $163,000.
The case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan L. Kotlier of Pappalardo's Economic Crimes Unit.
