 THE PENN CENTRAL CORPORATION NAMES PRESIDENT
 CINCINNATI, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The Penn Central Corporation


(NYSE: PC) announced today that Michael D. Krause, 39, has been named president of Dixie Insurance Company, Birmingham, Ala., a Penn Central subsidiary. Krause will continue as president of Windsor Insurance Company, Atlanta, another Penn Central subsidiary. Both companies operate in the non-standard automobile insurance industry.
 Krause joined Windsor Insurance Company in 1985 as president and prior to that had been vice president with Progressive Casualty Insurance Company. He is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a B.S. and earned an M.B.A from Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
 Reporting to Krause is James R. Gober, 40, who has been named executive vice president of Dixie Insurance Company, Birmingham, Ala. Gober will be responsible for the marketing, actuarial and data processing areas. He joined Atlanta Casualty Company, another Penn Central subsidiary, in 1981 and most recently was vice president of Product Management. He has three years of previous experience with Dixie Insurance in the capacity of Marketing Manager. Gober is a graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham with a B.S. in Business.
 Penn Central operates businesses primarily in the areas of specialty, property and casualty insurance and defense services.
