THE NEWS CORPORATION NAMES DIRECTORS NEW YORK, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief
executive officer of The News Corporation Limited (NYSE: NWS), today announced the appointment of Aatos Erkko and Hamish Maxwell to the board of directors of New Corporation.
Erkko has served since 1972 as chairman and chief executive officer of The Sanoma Group, the largest privately owned media company in Finland. The Sanoma Group is engaged in publishing newspapers, magazines, books and business publications, production and marketing of information services and development and management of real estate. Erkko is vice chairman of Kymmene Corporation and a director of Finnair. Maxwell is a director and chairman of the executive committee of Philip Morris Companies, Inc. Maxwell, first employed by Philip Morris in 1954, served as its chairman and chief executive officer from 1984 to 1991. Maxwell is director of Bankers Trust New York Corporation and Bankers Trust Company.
