THE NEW YORK TIMES TO HOLD NEWS CONFERENCES 4/27
 ANNOUNCING RUSSIAN-LANGUAGE EDITION
On Monday, April 27, at 9:30 A.M. The New York Times and Moscow News will hold joint news conferences in New York and Moscow to announce the creation of The New York Times News in Review, the Russian-language edition of The Times.
This new edition of The Times will be published for the first time on Tuesday, April 28, and will be sold biweekly (and later weekly) throughout Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, the former U.S.S.R.
The announcement will be made in New York by Arthur Sulzberger Jr., publisher of The Times, and in Moscow by Len Karpinsky, editor in chief of Moscow News, a leading independent Russian newspaper. The two publishers plan to be linked telephonically and reporters will be able to ask questions on both ends.
The news conference in New York will be held at the Times Building, 229 West 43d Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenues. It will begin at 9:30 A.M. with a light Russian breakfast; the official announcement and phone hookup will be at 10 A.M., or 6 P.M. Moscow time.
News organizations wishing to attend either conference may call William Adler at The Times prior to 2 P.M. on Friday, April 24, at 212-556-7077.
