THE NEW YORK TIMES COMPANY COMPLETES MERGER WITH AFFILIATED

 NEW YORK, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The New York Times Company (AMEX: NYT.A) completed its merger with Affiliated Publications, Inc. (NYSE: AFP), parent company of The Boston Globe. The announcement was made today by Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, chairman and chief executive officer of the Times Company.
 The New York Times Company is a diversified media company with revenues of $1.8 billion in 1992. Affiliated's revenues in 1992 were $414 million.
 The Times Company is traded on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol NYT.A.
