THE MOLE: GET YOUR HOOLIGAN INSURANCE HERE..

Byline: EDITED BY DAVID JAMES

NO doubt encouraged by events in Manchester this week, an Austrian firm is offering hooligan insurance for the Euro 2008 finals.

As Manchester continues its clean-up operation after the Rangers invasion on Wednesday night, the Vienna Insurance Group is encouraging citizens to shell out for insurance.

"The 2008 European Championship is a brilliant event for football fans," a statement from the company said.

"But winning games doesn't just bring joy, it can also mean malicious damage to front doors, buildings, fittings and furnishings in local businesses."

Fifteen euros will buy about 2,000 euros worth of cover, although given Austria's recent form most of the damage is likely to be done by their own disillusioned fans.
