THE MIRACLE PIANO TEACHING SYSTEM(TM) INTRODUCED TO MACINTOSH USERS
 Unique System Debuts at Macworld
NOVATO, Calif., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Miracle Piano Teaching System(TM), the first piano which teaches users how to play it, is now available for Macintosh users. The Miracle, with its three components -- software, a keyboard, and a cable connection to the user's Mac -- is the only interactive system of its kind available to Macintosh users who want to learn to play the piano.
The Miracle(TM) is available in 4,500 retail outlets in the United States, Europe, and Australia. OVERWHELMING SUPPORT FROM CUSTOMER SURVEY
The Miracle was introduced last year for use with the Nintendo Entertainment System(R) (NES). The Software Toolworks (NASDAQ: TWRX) recently completed an extensive survey of those Nintendo-based customers to determine their level of satisfaction with The Miracle. Two hundred customers were interviewed twice each over a several month period with surprising results. On a 1 to 5 rating scale (5 being the best), 99 percent of those surveyed rated The Miracle in the 4 to 5 range, an extraordinarily high approval rating for a consumer product.
"The very high satisfaction level of our customers in our survey makes us very optimistic about the reception The Miracle will receive from Macintosh users," said Bob Lloyd, president of The Software Toolworks. THE MIRACLE SYSTEM
The Miracle comes with a standalone piano keyboard with 49 full- sized keys. The keyboard easily attaches to a Macintosh computer's serial port. The software program customizes lessons for the student with fun and exciting video games and popular songs. The system also comes with built-in stereo speakers, AC adapter, and earphones. The keyboard has velocity-sensitive keys, a sustain pedal, and full MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) compatibility. It can produce over 100 exciting digital musical sounds.
All students, regardless of skill level, can progress through over 1,000 lessons at their own pace. The software program knows how and when each piano key is pressed; it isolates trouble spots in note recognition, rhythm, or fingering, and then creates lessons customized to meet individual needs. As a result, students learn at their own pace to read music and play the piano with both hands.
The built-in musical repertoire of over 100 popular and contemporary songs can be played in a variety of musical styles including classical, rock, jazz, contemporary, and country. Students enjoy musical accompaniment -- it's like playing with an entire orchestra. WORLDWIDE AVAILABILITY
The Software Toolworks has developed an impressive list of stores with over four thousand retail outlets nationwide. The Miracle is available at department stores such as Target and Sears, at specialty stores including Babbages, Electronics Boutique, and Software, Etc., and in 750 selected Tandy stores. Consumer electronics stores such as Circuit City, Silo, and The Good Guys!, and toy stores including FAO Schwarz, Child World, and Toys "R" Us also carry The Miracle. In addition, people who shop at computer hardware stores can find The Miracle at Micro Center and Elek Tek.
In the United Kingdom, The Miracle is sold at Virgin stores, W.H. Smith, Boots, and Dixsons, while in Germany the product is available at Karstadt and Kaufhoff, two of the country's largest department stores. The Miracle is also available in France at FNAC and Le Printemps. Other products by The Software Toolworks are sold in various European countries, and in Japan and Australia as well. ADVERTISING AND PR SUPPORT
To support the sales of The Miracle, The Software Toolworks has implemented an aggressive plan for advertising and public relations. Video news releases showing the progress of children using The Miracle were distributed to 150 television news stations nationally and were shown as in-flight videos on American Airlines flights in December. The company also recruited a dozen of the top deejays in the country to use The Miracle and chronicle their progress to their radio listeners. These programs coincide with product reviews appearing in major publications across the country.
The Miracle is currently available for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super NES, Commodore Amiga, and for IBM and compatible personal computers.
The Macintosh version will be available in February with a suggested retail price of $479.95. Purchasing information about The Miracle is available by calling The Software Toolworks at 1-800-234-3088.
