THE I-X INDOOR AMUSEMENT PARK OFFERS VISITORS A WORLD OF FUN

CLEVELAND, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- "Spring Break" officially starts in northeast Ohio April 2 when the I-X Indoor Amusement Park returns for a 38-day run at the I-X Center through May 9, 1993.
A record number of visitors are anticipated to come and play at the 20-acre, totally enclosed park which offers over 150 rides, games and attractions as well as daily live entertainment for adults and children.
Premiering this year for thrill seekers are Wild River sponsored by Lay's potato chips, Pepsi(R) Virtual Reality(TM), Sky Coaster and Top Spin. Wild River, a water flume ride, challenges its riders to "face the rapids" as their boats surge along a winding track of 65,000 gallons of gushing water. Pepsi(R) Virtual Reality(TM) brings video games to life as each player becomes immersed inside an action-packed video game and must challenge "cyberspace" enemies. Sky Coaster -- the next generation of bungee jumping -- is for daredevils who seek the exhilarating sensations of hang gliding and skydiving. Top Spin raises 39 riders at a time 60 feet into the air, only to twist, spin and flip them back toward the ground.
"We enjoy offering the newest and most exciting attractions to our guests, but our true goal is to offer diversity," said Patrick M. Park, I-X Center president. "Aside from hits such as the Zyclone rollercoaster, the Zipper, and Super Loop, guests will also enjoy Grand Kiddieland, an exotic petting zoo, a 10-story Ferris wheel, miniature golf, video golf and baseball and more."
Younger children will love to spend time in the Grand Kiddieland ride complex which contains over 23 exciting adventures. Kids will go crazy for pint-sized rides and activities such as Quadzilla (a 21st century dune buggy ride), the Moonwalk bounce, kiddie train, Ferris wheel, carousel and kiddie coaster. Children will also delight in a trip through the Wacky Shack and Alpine Funhouse and the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions.
Rides are only part of the thrills that the I-X Indoor Amusement Park has in store for its guests. For those who would rather keep their feet on the ground, there is MarketStreet USA which will feature unique arts, crafts and jewelry from over 300 exhibitors. Visitors may shop for anything from wooden toys to wall hangings and ceramics. This is the first year that the amusement park will host this giant craft show which runs opening weekend, April 2-4. Park admission is not required to visit this incredible craft show.
"Because weather is never a concern, our amusement park can offer unusual and unique activities indoors," said Park. "In addition to other features this season, the I-X Indoor Amusement Park will present the Pepsi(R) German National Circus -- a European-style, traveling circus -- all under a special indoor 'big top' tent."
Crazy clown antics, wild cat taming, dog tricks, bareback equestrian riding and elephants will all be a part of the exciting show. Fearless stunts such as the daring "hair hang" will also be performed on the high-wire and trapeze. A singing ringmaster, elaborate costumes and bandstand music will also add to the circus' ambiance. The circus will feature three, 50-minute performances a day under the "big top" which seats 2,500 -- all included in the cost of admission.
Many visual displays and hands-on exhibits will also make the trip to the I-X Indoor Amusement Park fun and educational. Back by popular demand will be Dr. Jim Burnett and his exotic animal petting zoo. Children will get hands-on experience with live animals and can even choose to take an elephant or pony ride.
A larger-than-life 11 foot LEGO(R) astronaut and a giant LEGO(R) replica of The White House are featured displays that park-goers won't want to miss. These two amazing LEGO(R) creations will be surrounded by the LEGO(R) Construction Zone, where younger guests may try their hand at building their own LEGO(R) masterpieces. On Sunday, April 4, the Indoor Amusement Park will be sponsoring LEGO(R) Family Fun Day during which the park will offer the first 500 young LEGO(R) artists complimentary LEGO(R) t-shirts and certificates of achievement.
Guests may surround themselves with Bengal Tigers in a phenomenal tiger and lion exhibit. Visitors will have the opportunity to have a photo taken with these friendly felines, and Arthur -- the famous MGM lion -- will be on hand to meet his fans.
Another exhibit, the U.S. Space Camp, will be at the park from April 23 - May 2. A trained Space Camp Ambassador will answer questions and help kids try on authentic astronaut gear and get a look inside a real spacecraft.
Today's hottest stars will also be highlighted throughout the event. National and local artists will perform a variety of live concerts for fans; and many television celebrities will make personal appearances and hold autograph sessions.
To celebrate the 100th birthday of the Ferris wheel, park guests may take a ride on the I-X Indoor Ferris wheel which is noted as the world's tallest indoor Ferris wheel. Erected only last year, the 10-story, gondola-style wheel is now a permanent fixture at the I-X Center. Riders get a magnificent panoramic view of Cleveland Hopkins Airport and the city of Cleveland through a glass atrium as the wheel rises 35 feet above the roof of the I-X Center.
Only Cleveland's I-X Center could be the site of such a giant event. With 2.5 million square feet of space under one roof, the "Guinness Book of World Records" recognizes the I-X Center as the world's largest single-building exhibition facility.
The I-X Center is located in Brook Park on Ohio Route 237 adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. It is easily accessible from Ohio Turnpike Exit 10, Interstate 71 and Interstate 480.
