THE HOME DEPOT ANNOUNCES OFFICER PROMOTIONS

 ATLANTA, March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Home Depot (NYSE: HD), America's largest home improvement retailer, today announced a series of promotions among its senior management staff.
 On the corporate staff, the following promotions have taken place: Ronald M. Brill has been promoted from senior vice president/CFO/treasurer to executive vice president/CFO/treasurer. Marshall L. Day has been promoted from vice president-Finance to senior vice president-Finance. Preston R. Kirby has been promoted from controller to vice president/controller. Kerrie R. Flannigan has been promoted from director-Merchandise Payables to vice president- Merchandise Payables. Flannigan becomes The Home Depot's first female officer. Bryan J. Fields has been promoted from director of Real Estate to vice president-Real Estate.
 In the company's Northeast Division, Ken Ubertino, merchandiser- Hardware has been promoted to vice president-Merchandising. Vern Joslyn has been promoted from district manager-New England to vice president- Operations.

 Atlanta-based Home Depot currently operates 220 home improvement stores in 21 states. The stores stock approximately 30,000 different kinds of building materials, home improvement products and lawn and garden supplies, which are sold primarily to do-it-yourselfers and home improvement, construction and building maintenance professionals. The Home Depot's stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "HD," and is included in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index.
