THE HOME DEPOT ANNOUNCES ITS 'OLYMPIC FAMILY' MEMBERS

ATLANTA, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Home Depot (NYSE: HD), America's largest home improvement retailer, today announced the members of "The Home Depot Olympic Family," a select group of the company's key retail product suppliers.
"We are extremely proud of this cooperative effort with our 'Family' members in helping to bring the Olympic Games back to America and support the dreams of Olympic athletes," said Jim Inglis, Home Depot's executive vice president for merchandising. "Without our suppliers' support, Home Depot would not be able to provide the significant level of assistance we have pledged to the Olympic Movement. We are retailers, not manufacturers, so to a very large extent we are what we sell."
The members of "The Home Depot Olympic Family" are providing important support for The Home Depot's partnership with Atlanta Centennial Olympic Properties (ACOP), the primary national sponsorship program for the current Olympic quadrennium. They were selected from among Home Depot's approximately 3,000 vendors.
The "Family" members and their products will be featured in various Home Depot Olympic promotions.
In December 1992, Home Depot contracted to become a partner with ACOP. The partnership includes official sponsorships of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway; the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta; the U.S. Olympic Teams competing in Lillehammer and Atlanta; the U.S. Teams to the 1995 Pan American Games and World University Games; and the United States Olympic Committee.
In conjunction with its "Family," Home Depot is now developing a comprehensive business plan to support its ACOP partnership and expects to begin promotional programs related to the partnership during 1993.
The corporate members of "The Home Depot Olympic Family" represent 27 home improvement product categories. The companies include: American Standard; Ames; Armstrong; Black & Decker; Campbell Hausfeld; Char-Broil; Custom Building Products; Genie; Hunter Fan; In-Sink-Erator; Kwikset; Leslie-Locke; Levolor; Kraftmaid; Mill's Pride; McCulloch; Newell: Ortho; Owens Corning; Poulan/Weed Eater; Price Pfister; Rubbermaid Inc., Home Products Division; Schuller International (Manville brand); O.M. Scott; Southwire; Stanley; Toro Co. (Lawn-Boy brand); and Woods Wire Products.
Atlanta-based Home Depot operates 219 warehouse-style stores in 20 states. Ranging in size from 68,000 to 140,000 square feet, the stores stock approximately 30,000 different kinds of building materials, home improvement products, and lawn and garden supplies which are sold primarily to do-it-yourselfers but also to home improvement, construction and building maintenance professionals. Its stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol, "HD," and is included in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index.
