THE GREAT WHITE ADVENTURE ... ALSO A GREAT SECRET

SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 1 ~PRNewswire~ -- Get in on the secret before the world catches on. World class skiing and diverse terrain is a given, and great snow is Salt Lake's biggest boast. An annual average 530 inches of snow graces the mountains each year, priming the ski runs of nine resorts less than one hour from downtown. This skiers' "manna from heaven" helped boost Salt Lake to the honor of being America's bid city for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
This season five high speed quads lift skiers uphill in record time, sparing more minutes to explore newly carved runs. Creative ski package deals promise emergency "wallet relief," and apres' ski adventures range from Utah Jazz games, Golden Eagles hockey, comedy clubs, theater and exciting nightclubs.
 Resort Round-Up
Snowbird: Snowbird lays claim to 2,000 acres of accessible terrain. The resort abounds with advanced and intermediate slopes, while beginner jitters can be calmed on the Chickadee run for no charge.
Alta: Twenty-two-hundred acres and 39 runs offer both challenge and ease. Fabled to be a mountain for "better skiers," 65 percent of the resort is actually classified for beginning or intermediate abilities.
Brighton: A family favorite because children ski free. Ten new runs premier this season with the grand opening of Brighton's second high-speed detachable quad.
Solitude: Solitude was honored with the 1990 National Ski Area Slope and Trail Design Award. Sixty runs on 1,100 acres and 400 acres of premium powder provide world-class skiing.
Park City: Park City offers 2,200 acres of ski terrain, 650 acres of bowl skiing and 83 trails waiting to be conquered. Newly expanded snow-making systems insure optimum snow conditions.
Deer Valley: Deer Valley is unsurpassed in grooming and manicuring its runs. Five of those runs were widened this year, and snow-making systems were expanded to complement regular snowfall.
 The Ultimate Binge
Interconnect: Sample five resorts in a single day. Forest Service-approved guides take skiers on Interconnect. Required reservations can be made by calling 900-SKI-UTAH.
