THE FUTURE NOW, INC. REPORTS THIRD QUARTER EARNINGS GAINS AS ACQUISITIONS ARE FINALIZED

CINCINNATI, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Future Now, Inc. (NASDAQ: FNOW), the Cincinnati-based computer sales and services company that focuses on total solutions for its clients, today reported third quarter 1993 net income of $2,102,000, up 39 percent from $1,516,000 for the same period one year ago.
For the quarter ended Sept. 30, 1993, revenue grew to $176,035,000, a substantial increase from the $101,396,000 reported for the comparable period in 1992. Earnings per share rose to $.31 from $.29 for the same period last year.
For the nine months ended September 30, 1993, net income totaled $5,860,000, compared to $3,533,000 for the same nine months in 1992. Earnings per share were $.92 for the nine months, compared to $.84 for the same period last year. Revenue for the nine months was $472,514,000, compared with $210,444,000 last year, an increase of 125 percent.
These earnings are the result of growth from acquisitions as well as continuing operations. Also reflected for the nine months is the dilutive effect of the company's July 1992 issuance of 1,638,377 shares of common stock to Intelligent Electronics, Inc. in exchange for Intelligent's nine computer reselling operations, and the company's March 1993 issuance of 1,467,500 shares in a public offering.
Future Now capitalized on the industry trend of consolidation during the third quarter of 1993, integrating two major acquisitions into its business. In August, the company finalized its acquisition of Irvine, Calif.-based Premium Connecting Point; in September it completed the acquisition of Basicomputer Corporation of Akron, Ohio. Future Now has no current plans to pursue additional acquisition possibilities. Instead, it will focus on maximizing its existing business.
"Future Now proved its management can successfully integrate acquisitions into the mainstream of its business," said Future Now chairman and CEO Terry Theye. "The Company underwent som?atic reshaping during the third quarter, while sustaining good earnings and maintaining its focus on providing exceptional levels of customer service." He added that the third quarter earnings are right on track with projections.
The Future Now, Inc. sells and installs microcomputers, UNIX workstations, turn-key local and wide area networks, computer software and peripheral products for business, professional, educational and governmental customers. The company also offers a wide range of customer support and consulting services through its 32 sales offices in 19 states.
