DALLAS, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- "Yabba Dabba Doo!" It's the Days Inns Flintstones Family Travel Fun program. America's first family of travel -- Hanna-Barbera's Flintstones -- has joined the 1,425-unit Days Inns hotel chain to offer Family Fun Rates, Fun Packs for Children, and more.
Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty, Pebbles, Bam Bam and Dino will be part of a two-year Days Inns marketing and advertising program through an exclusive licensing agreement with Turner Home Entertainment (T.H.E.). As part of the program, the Flintstones will appear in ads with Days Inns spokesperson Willard Scott.
The announcement was made today by John Russell, president and COO of Days Inns of America, Inc., and Fred Seibert, president of Hanna- Barbera, Inc., a subsidiary of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS), during the annual conference of Days Inns owners and general managers.
Days Inns also announced the creation of a Family Travel Club, the first-ever of its kind in the lodging industry.
For over 30 years, the Flintstones have entertained people worldwide. The classic Flintstones TV show still runs daily in syndication and on Turner Network Television (TNT), TBS Superstation and the Cartoon Network. In addition, several prime time animated TV specials like "Yabba-Dabba-Do" (February 1993) and "A Flintstones Family Christmas" (1993) boost the characters' perennial popularity.
"The Flintstones are the first family of travel, and they bring significant awareness to our audience -- famlies," said Russell. "Willard Scott was able to break through the advertising clutter and significantly increased our business. The Flintstones with Willard Scott will raise us to the next level of brand awareness and record business."
"It is logical for Hanna-Barbera, which provides enjoyment for the whole family, to have this connection with Days Inns, a company committed to giving parents and children a home away from home," said Seibert. "We are fortunate to promote our treasured characters -- the Flintstones -- with an organization that fosters family values."
Russell said the Flintstones Family Travel Fun Rates, Fun Days Travel Packs and other special merchandise will be available year-round, not just during the summer.
