THE DRESS BARN, INC. REPORTS MONTHLY SALES RESULTS STAMFORD, Conn., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dress Barn, Inc.
(NASDAQ-NMS: DBRN) today reported sales of $39.1 million for the five- week period ended Sept. 26, 1992, an increase of 19 percent over sales of $32.9 million last year. The company's comparable store sales increased 3 percent during this period.
At Sept. 26, 1992, the company operated 576 stores, a net addition of 43 or an 8 percent increase from the 533 in operation last year. The company continues its store expansion program by opening 18 stores since the end of its July 1992 fiscal year with another 30 planned during its current fall season. The Dress Barn, Inc. operates a chain of off-price women's apparel stores, offering in-season, moderate to better quality fashion apparel, primarily with nationally recognized brand names, at substantial discounts from department store prices.
