THE DESPERATIS.

Byline: Brian Reade

IT'S often claimed our lives are run by either the literati, glitterati, aristocrati or the New Labourati.

But, looking at the guests turning up at a surprise birthday party for Simon Cowell, it's clear we don't know our ati from our elbow.

Because, when Myleene Klass, Christine Bleakley, Dannii Minogue, Max Clifford, Bruno Tonioli, Anthea Turner, Grant Bovey, Sinitta, Louis Walsh and Amanda Holden are the intellects among whom the most powerful man in Britain chooses to surround himself, it's clear we're run by the mediocrati.
