THE DECKER GROUP, INC. AND TURNER HOME ENTERTAINMENT SIGN AGREEMENT
TROY, Mich., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Decker Group, Inc., creator of SOCAROOs, "the sock with a pocket," today announced an agreement with Turner Home Entertainment, the worldwide licensing and merchandising, home video, theatrical, pay-per-view and in-flight entertainment division of the Atlanta-based Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (AMEX: TBS).
The agreement gives The Decker Group, Inc. the rights to 18 world- renowned cartoon characters -- including Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Augie Dogie, Fred Flintstone and Dino. These characters will appear as color-embroidered emblems on the pockets of SOCAROO(R) socks for children. SOCAROO is patented or patent pending in 11 countries, including the United States.
"This is a major breakthrough for us," said Todd Decker, president of The Decker Group, Inc. "Our children's line of SOCAROOs and the fun- loving Hanna-Barbera characters are an unbeatable combination -- mixing fun, function and fashion for the 6- to 11-year-old."
SOCAROOs feature a unique side pocket with a Velcro(R)-hinged enclosure. Children can hold lunch money, latch keys, notes, gum and other small items. People of all ages who need a secure place to hold credit cards, keys and identification when working out or playing sports can choose SOCAROOs with NFL or college insignias.
SOCAROOs will be available this summer and fall in mass market channels of distribution, including department and specialty stores in the United States.
In addition to the Turner Home Entertainment license, SOCAROO is an officially licensed product of Collegiate Licensing of America, the Heisman Trophy, the National Football League, the National Football League Players Association, and many universities including Arizona State, Florida State, Georgetown, Louisiana State, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Tennessee. SOCAROOs are featured in the Anheuser- Busch spring 1992 promotional catalogue and the 1992 NFL merchandise catalogue. Amoco, Colgate Palmolive, General Motors and Volkswagen have ordered SOCAROOs for sales promotions.
A high-quality sock made from 80 percent cotton/20 percent nylon or 75 percent Acrilan II/25 percent nylon, SOCAROOs come in a variety of colors and style combinations of crew and tube socks. Manufactured in the United States, SOCAROOs are patented in Germany, Canada, Great Britain, Korea and Australia, and have patents pending in the United States, Brazil, Japan, Russia, France and Italy. SOCAROO with the Kangaroo is a registered trademark in the United States.
