THE CULLIGAN MAN RETURNS: NEW RADIO AD CAMPAIGN BRINGS BACK AN OLD FAVORITE

 NORTHBROOK, Ill., July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Forget that Superman has died -- an old favorite has returned -- the Culligan Man. The advertising superhero from the '50s is the life blood of Culligan International Company's new radio ad campaign.
 The internationally recognized "Hey, Culligan Man!" slogan was created in 1953 by veteran ad man Dallas Williams. Wt?he signature voice of "Gracie," the tiny Culligan cartoon woman booming out the catchy call, the slogan's popularity soared and soon became a household phrase. According to Larry Holzman, director of advertising and promotion, the 90-plus-percent brand recognition the Culligan name enjoys is due, in part, to the past popularity of the slogan. "The `Hey, Culligan Man!' slogan is one of the most well-known ad slogans of this century," notes Holzman.
 And as Culligan continues to diversify its product offering and move into new markets, it plans to draw upon the familiarity of this renowned call. "Our product family is becoming increasingly diverse. And, with expansion into markets where the name Culligan might not be as well known, such as bottled water, the `Hey, Culligan Man!' slogan has helped set our foundation by lending both familiarity and trust," explains Holzman.
 Culligan International Company, through its network of 750 domestic independently operated franchise dealers, markets a family of bottle water, packaged water, water vending, drinking water and water conditioning products.
