THE BULLY FINCH; Loner budgie accused of bad attitude.

PETULA the bullying budgie is defying all attempts to curb her bad behaviour at a fun farm for kids.

Staff at Gorgie City Farm in Edinburgh have scoured pet shops in search of a dominant male bird tough enough to stand up to her.

But they have now admitted their search has been in vain and that Petula, the one-year-old green and yellow Australian budgerigar, is still ruling the roost.

The farm's vet, Gary Waterall, reckons any potential mate probably had a lucky escape.

He said: "She might well have wiped the floor with him. Hens can be quite vicious but Petula was a bit on the wild side... a big, robust bird with lots of personality and strength of character."

"We kept looking round the pet shops but we couldn't spot a male bird who looked like he would be able to live with Petula."
