 KEARNEY, Neb., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Buckle, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: BKLE) today reported pro forma net income up 71.1 percent on a 27.5 percent sales increase for the second quarter ended Aug. 1, 1992.
 Net sales for the 1992 13-week period increased to $24,570,000 from $19,277,000 in the second quarter of the 1991 fiscal year. Comparable store sales increased 8.0 percent. In the 1992 second quarter the company operated 95 stores versus 81 stores in the 1991 period.
 Pro forma net income for the second quarter of fiscal 1992 rose to $1,593,000, or 23 cents per share, from $931,000, or 16 cents per share, a year earlier.
 For the 26-week period ended Aug. 1, 1992, pro forma net income rose 63.0 percent to $2,224,000, or 37 cents per share, from $1,364,000, or 23 cents per share, in the 1991 first half.
 Net sales for the first six months of fiscal 1992 increased 26 percent to $44,339,000 from $35,146,000 in the 1991 first half. Comparable store sales rose 7.3 percent.
 The company went public with an initial public offering of 1.7 million common shares on May 8, 1992. Net proceeds were used to fund previously undistributed earnings to a shareholder and for general corporate purposes including expansion and remodeling.
 Headquartered in Kearney, The Buckle, Inc. is a retailer of medium to better priced casual apparel for young men and women, operating 95 stores in 15 states.
