THE BUCKLE, INC. REPORTS 11.9-PERCENT SALES INCREASE FOR AUGUST 1993

 KEARNEY, Neb., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Buckle, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: BKLE) today announced that sales for the four-week period ended Aug. 28, 1993, increased 11.9 percent to $17.2 million from $15.4 million in the corresponding four-week period for August 1992. Comparable store sales for the four-week period ended Aug. 28, 1993, were down 6.6 percent from sales for the same period in the prior year. Comparable store net sales for August of fiscal 1992 were up 18.7 percent from the fiscal 1991 period.
 Net sales year-to-date, for the 30 weeks ended Aug. 28, 1993, increased 14.0 percent to $68.1 million from $59.7 million for the corresponding 30 weeks in the prior year. Comparable store sales year-to-date were down 5.0 percent from sales in the same period of fiscal 1992.
 During August 1993, the company bought back 75,000 shares of The Buckle, Inc. common stock.
