THE BSE INQUIRY: THE VICTIMS.

THE 80 victims of variant CJD came from a wide variety of backgrounds - some were vegetarians while others worked in the meat industry.

The first known victim was Stephen Churchill, 19, of Devizes, Wilts, in 1995.

Vicky Rimmer, 20, of Connah's Quay, Clwyd, was the first teenager to be diagnosed in 1993 aged 15.

Queniborough, Leics, was dubbed the cursed village after four locals died.

An unnamed mother died in a Midlands hospital after giving birth to a girl. The baby has vCJD.

Abattoir butcher Jason Keat, 25, of Warrington, died in January 1999.

Vegetarian student Peter Hall, 20, of Chester- le-Street, Co Durham died in February 1996.
