THE BANK OF NOVA SCOTIA APPOINTS NEW VICE-CHAIRMAN
 TORONTO, Oct. 2 /CNW/ - The Bank of Nova Scotia announced today that at a meeting of the Bank's Board of Directors on September 29, 1992, Mr. Bruce R. Birmingham was elected Vice-Chairman of the Board and appointed a Director of the Bank.
 Mr. Birmingham will be assuming overall responsibility for retail and commercial banking on a global basis. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Birmingham held the position of Senior Executive Vice-President, Corporate Banking.
