 THE BANK OF NEW YORK ANNNOUNCES SENIOR OFFICER PROMOTIONS
 NEW YORK, May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bank of New York (NYSE :BK)


has announced the election of one senior executive vice president, two executive vice presidents and four senior vice presidents.
 Elected senior executive vice president was Robert J. Mueller, who was also named chief credit policy officer. Thomas A. Renyi, vice chairman, who had been chief credit policy officer, is now responsible for the bank's securities processing, operations, and technology areas.
 Elected as executive vice presidents were Richard G. Genin, who is head of the securities operations division, and Joseph M. Velli, who is head of the corporate trust and agency services sector.
 Elected as senior vice presidents were Leslie V. Godridge, who is responsible for the central commercial banking division; Richard R. Rodelli, who is head of the capital markets division; Douglas B. Smith, who is head of the Northeast Department of the communications, entertainment and publishing division; and Thomas A. Szczesny, who is responsible for the investment technology division.
