THE ATLANTA PROJECT CELEBRATES CHILDREN'S HEALTH WITH STAR-STUDDED EVENT

 ATLANTA, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Local children who are immunized through The Atlanta Project (TAP) in April will be treated to an evening of entertainment in May.
 "The Atlanta Project Kids' Celebration," scheduled for May 5 at the Omni, will be presented in partnership with Ronald McDonald Children's Charities (RMCC) of Greater Atlanta and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS).
 Preschool-aged children, along with a parent or guardian, will join with volunteers who help with TAP's April immunization campaign for an exciting evening of entertainment featuring Atlanta talent and a special guest appearance by superstar Michael Jackson.
 Well-known sports figures and other celebrities will be available before the performance to talk with children and sign autographs.
 "We want to create an event that will bring families and volunteers together to celebrate our communities' efforts to protect the health of our children. This will be a celebration for our community, by our community," said Rubye Lucas, board of directors, TBS.
 "The real stars of this evening will be the children who get immunized and parents who care enough about them to get it done," said Paul Messer, president, RMCC of Greater Atlanta.
 According to "Kids' Celebration" executive producer J.C. Shardo: "We've brought together a stellar group of local creative talent to be a part of our team. Each brings a personal commitment to supporting our children." Ms. Shardo, an Atlanta-based film and television producer, includes among her credits the ABC-TV mini-series, "Stay the Night" and CBS-TV's two-hour movie of the week, "The Christmas Gift."
 The show will be produced by Peter Conlan, president of Southern Concert Promotions, the largest Atlanta-based concert promoter. Other well-known Atlanta residents participating in this collaborative effort include:
 -- Bobbie Baily, president, Georgia Music Awards;
 -- Jane Fonda, two-time Oscar winner and active supporter of The Atlanta Project;
 -- Robert Herbert, chair, Mayor's Entertainment Commission;
 -- Kenny Leon, artistic director, The Alliance Theater Company;
 -- Rubye Lucas, board of directors, TBS;
 -- Pamela Poitier, Ceba award-winning producer and producer of "The Tribute to Coretta Scott King."
 In addition, The William Morris Agency's John Mass and Paul Frank in Los Angeles and Cara Lewis in New York have provided their services as talent coordinators for the event.
 Tickets to the event will be given to children age 5 and under who are immunized during National Preschool Immunization Week (April 24- May 1) at one of 41 Atlanta Project sites. Preschool children who have their immunization records certified at an Atlanta Project site that week will also receive a ticket. One adult per family may accompany children to the event. In addition, volunteers who complete their assignments during an April 17-18, neighbor-to-neighbor community information campaign or who volunteer during the week-long immunization drive April 24-May 1 will be given the opportunity to attend. This event is not open to the general public. To volunteer, call 404-881-3411.
