THE ANHEUSER-BUSCH PARKS RAISE MORE THAN $1.5 MILLION
 FOR RONALD McDONALD'S CHILDREN'S CHARITIES
ORLANDO, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Anheuser-Busch theme parks today announced a $1.565 million donation to Ronald McDonald's Children's Charities, a not-for-profit organization that awards grants to organizations whose programs help young people reach their fullest potential. The contribution was funded by the Anheuser-Busch theme parks through a nationwide cooperative coupon promotion at McDonald's restaurants.
A ceremonial check was presented at Sea World of Florida's Shamu Stadium by Susan Busch Transou, Director of National Advertising and Product Development for the Anheuser-Busch theme parks. It was accepted on behalf of RMCC by Gerald Newman, the foundation's president and senior executive vice president and chief accounting officer for McDonald's Corp.
"On behalf of Ronald McDonald Children's Charities and children everywhere, I'm honored to accept this tremendous donation from the Anheuser-Busch theme parks," said Newman.
"At RMCC, it's our goal to help improve the lives of children through the programs that we fund; whether it's providing research grants tof?ind cures for childhood diseases or building a playground for disabled youngsters. This donation will broaden our scope and amount of giving to help lift even more kids to a better tomorrow."
Throughout June and July, 1991, McDonald's restaurants distributed coupons -- loose, on bags, and on tray liners -- for discounted admissions to the Anheuser-Busch family of theme parks, including Sea World in Orlando, San Diego, Calif.; San Antonio, Texas; and Aurora, Ohio; Busch Gardens in Tampa, Fla. and Williamsburg, Va.; Adventure Island in Tampa; and Cypress Gardens near Winter Haven, Fla. Anheuser-Busch donated $1 per coupon redeemed at the parks to RMCC, raising a more than $1.5 million contribution.
"We're proud that the Anheuser-Busch theme parks were able to generate a significant donatiodren," said Busch Transou. "We share RMCC's goals to touch children's lives and to make them more enriching and enjoyable."
Since its inception in 1984, RMCC has awarded nearly $50 million to more than 1,250 organizations serving children. Established in memory of McDonald's Corp. founder Ray A. Kroc, RMCC helps young people lead healthier, happier and more productive lives by funding programs in the areas of health care and medical research, including Ronald McDonald House; education and the arts; and social and civic concerns.
The Anheuser-Busch family of theme parks is committed to quality family entertainment, education and animal conservation through marine life and zoological programs at the Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa parks. The Anheuser-Busch theme parks employ more than 15,000 people nationwide.
