THE AMBIENCE AFFAIR; A QUICK ONE WITH.

1 The Ambience Affair, who had one of their songs featured on CSI: Miami last year, have recently finished mixing their debut album, which they hope to release in spring. Its first track, Weeds , got its debut airing on Paul McLoone's Today FM show on Monday night.

The band are teaming up with We Cut Corners and Windings playing various towns and cities across Ireland this month.

We caught up with vocalist/guitarist Jamie Clarke before he hit the road.

WHEN'S THE NEXT GIG?

Our next gig will be tonight in The Workman's Club in Dublin as part of a national tour with We Cut Corners & Windings. We're also playing

The Spirit Store, Dundalk tomorrow night. All the dates are on our Myspace www.myspace.com/theambienceaffair and Facebook pages.

WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AT THE MINUTE?

I'm currently listening to albums & songs from Lower Dens, Menomena and Anna Calvi. I've also found myself listening to a lot of Richard Hawley recently and can't wait to see him again on Other Voices when itt airs.

WHAT OTHER ACTS DO YOU RATE?

We're big fans of Field Music, Wilco and Villagers and have had the pleasure of sharing stages with two oof them. It's great because all three of us have pretty diverse tastes in music, yet can all agree on a lot of things.

WHAT GIGS COMING UP ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO?

I'm really into what I'm hearing from Anna Calvi at tthe moment and her gig in The Workman's Club next month should be a good one, and obviously I'm looking forward to the tour a lot!

WHAT'S BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE MUSICIAN'S MOMENT SO FAR?

There has thankfully been more good than bad sincce we started but the best hast to be the New Year's Y Eve show we just played with Lisa Hannigan, Cathy Davvey, Neil Hannon & Jape in Vicar Street. Hopefully we'll have more nights like that to come.

WHAT NEXT?

We're currently in the process of finishing our album (with the first track available to stream now from theambienceaffair.bandcamp.com), and then we'll look to release it in the next couple of months. After that, we'd hope to bee in contention for a few festival slots in the summer.
