THE ABC TELEVISION NETWORK AND 'READER'S DIGEST' MAGAZINE'S WILL PRESENT ONE-HOUR SPECIAL, BASED ON READER'S DIGEST MAGAZINE'S POPULAR FEATURES

 PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The ABC Television Network and "Reader's Digest" magazine will present a one-hour special this fall, it was jointly announced today by Robert Igar, president of the ABC Television Network Group, and George V. Grune, chairman and chief executive officer of The Reader's Digest Association, Inc.
 Now the early stages of production, "Reader's Digest: On Television" (working title) will feature segments based in such popular "Reader's Digest" magazine features as "Drama in Real Life" and "Crime and Punishment." Peabody-award winning Robin Young, a regular contributor on ABC's daytime series, "Home," will be one of the two co- hosts of this primetime special. Her male counterpart and further production details will be announced shortly.

 Since the launch of its flagship magazine in 1922, The Reader's Digest Association has grown to become a global publisher and one of the world's leading direct mail marketers of magazines, books and home entertainment products. Today "Readers Digest" magazine has 40 editions in 16 languages, a global circulation exceeding 28 million and 100 million readers in every country in the world.
 "Reader's Digest: On Television" will be produced by ABC/Kane Productions in association with Reader's Digest. Executive Producer Dennis B. Kane has provided ABC with its award-winning "World of Discovery" specials since 1989 and has produced numerous other specials and series for broadcast, cable and home video. Also serving as executive producer is Gordon Freedman of Freedman/Greene Productions. Mr. Freedman ad his company have produced "To Heal A Nation," "Baby M," and the recent feature documentary, "A Brief History of Time," based on physicist Stephen Hawking's book of the same title.
