THE 'DAUGHTERS' OF ARA SERVICES COME TO WORK

PHILADELPHIA, April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, April 28, 45 young women between the ages of 11 and 15 will decide if they want to become financial analysts, lawyers or the president of the United States.
These are some of the goals of the participants of the Take Our Daughters To Work program at ARA Services.
Organized by the ARA Women's Network, the company invited its employees to bring their daughters to work to gain first-hand exposure to the workplace and to learn about the many career paths open to them. ARA is also hosting six "adopted daughters" from the Girl Scouts of Greater Philadelphia.
The day-long event includes such activities as an orientation session on ARA and the working world, a tour of ARA's headquarters and participating in a Career Program with presentations by women in a variety of fields, including finance, marketing, law, computers and operations. The young women will also be videotaped throughout the day and shown the completed video at the Program Wrap-Up.
Created by the Ms. Foundation, the program is a direct response to recent studies showing that most girls have a great deal of self- confidence until the age of 9, but most lose it by the time they reach high school. Preserving that self-confidence is the program's mission.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, ARA employs more than 124,000 people worldwide to help provide a wide range of services to industry, institutions, government and consumers including food and leisure, textile rental and maintenance, periodical distribution, healthcare and childcare.
