THATCHER MISSES HER BIG DAY.

THE Queen joined Garter Knights for their annual service yesterday but without Baroness Thatcher who remains in hospital.

The sight of Garter Knights walking through the grounds of Windsor Castle in their lavish robes is a colourful spectacle that attracts hundreds of people.

But the 83-year-old former Prime Minister was always doubtful for the event after she broke her arm last week in a fall at her London home.

Lady Thatcher was made a member of the ancient order in 1995 a few years after her time in office had ended and was due to take her seat in St George's Chapel..
