CRISTOPH BAUMGARTNER fired Austria into the knockout stages of the Euros for the first time.
Victory for Franco Foda's men against a weary Ukraine bagged second spot in Group C and put them on collision course with a red-hot Italy in the last 16 at Wembley on Saturday.
And while they will go in as underdogs, their coach insisted London should get ready for an upset.
"I already have a plan in my head," said Foda. "Yes they are on an unbeaten run - but one day that will end.
"We have scouts who have looked at Italy already, given we knew we could face them, and I believe we are able to compete.
"The task is very difficult but we thought they have struggled physically in the second half of games and in one game everything's possible.
"We have made history and that was our intention coming here - now we want to make it into the quarters."
Defeat for Ukraine may not be the end of their tournament, but they must now hope two other third-placed teams finish with a worse record.
With three points and a minus one goal difference, that seems unlikely.
For Austria, who last played knockout football in a major finals when finishing third at the 1954 World Cup, this was a deserved victory.
Foda's side went ahead midway through the first half, captain David Alaba firing an outswinging corner from the left which Baumgartner steered in.
The goalscorer timed his effort well given that 12 minutes later he was substituted after feeling dizzy.
Andriy Shevchenko's men created little, a Mykola Shaparenko effort saved by Daniel Bachmann on the half hour being the closest they came.
