THANKSGIVING PARADE STUDIO OPENS FOR ANNUAL PUBLIC TOURS

THANKSGIVING PARADE STUDIO OPENS FOR ANNUAL PUBLIC TOURS
DETROIT, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Michigan Thanksgiving Parade

will open its doors to Santa's Studio for a behind-the-scenes look at the parade. The annual studio tours have become an important part of holiday-season activities for many Detroit-area families.
The public tours provide a rare opportunity to see the studio where the parade is created. Go "backstage" at the parade. See the wonderful floats, huge balloons and other parade elements that will be on display. A special appearance will be made by the parade's most mischievous inflatable, Chilly Willy. Santa himself will be on hand to greet visitors. Try on one of the large character heads from the parade's famous collection. An area will also be provided for children to create their own holiday favors. Refreshments and other surprises will also be available, including photo opportunities for the whole family.
"We have found that the tours are a great family event," said Kirk Hendrix, president of the Thanksgiving Parade. "When we open the workshop, it's a perfect opportunity for the public, the parade fans who watched the parade live or on television, to see the place where it all comes together."
Studio tour hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8, and Dec. 14 and 15. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children and senior citizens. Anyone wearing a parade pin will receive a $1 discount on admission.
Santa's Studio is at 9600 Mt. Elliott in Detroit, two miles north of I-94 from the Mt. Elliott exit. Call 313-923-7400 during business hours for more information.
