TEXTLINE DATABASES ADDED TO DIALOG(SM)

 TEXTLINE DATABASES ADDED TO DIALOG(SM)
PALO ALTO, Calif., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The global information

resources of TEXTLINE are now available on DIALOG. The TEXTLINE collection consists of six databases containing full-text and abstracted articles from hundreds of international newspapers, magazines, trade journals, and newswires.
The TEXTLINE databases are in English, translated from the 15 different languages of the source materials. TEXTLINE is grouped into files by geographic region and publication type, and updated daily.
As presented by Dialog, TEXTLINE allows not only for comprehensive searching, but also for precisely targeted research. TEXTLINE on DIALOG currently contains data back through 1988, and Dialog is committed to adding all the TEXTLINE backfiles, through 1980, to provide searchers with the background material necessary for historical research or trend analyses.
The geographic divisions of TEXTLINE on DIALOG provide an easy and logical method for limiting a search. In addition, Dialog has enhanced the TEXTLINE files by expanding the number of search codes, permitting maximum precision in searching.
Since TEXTLINE is loaded directly on the DIALOG service and is not a gateway, TEXTLINE searchers can take advantage of the full search capabilities of DIALOG including OneSearch(SM) for multifile searching. TEXTLINE searchers can broaden the scope of their research by searching two or more of the TEXTLINE files together, or in combination with Dialog's wide array of international business and company databases.
For searchers unfamiliar with the DIALOG command language, Dialog has constructed a menu-based front-end access facility modeled on the Reuter's Textline product. This permits people needing international business information to readily access TEXTLINE on DIALOG without extensive training or learning requirements.
The TEXTLINE collection on DIALOG consists of:
-- TEXTLINE: UNITED KINGDOM NEWS (File 772) -- Leading national and international newspapers and newswires originating in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, including the Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, the Birmingham Post, and the Glasgow Herald.
-- TEXTLINE: EUROPEAN NEWS (File 773) -- Newspapers, newswires, and newsletters from both Western and Eastern European countries. Sample titles include Die Welt, Le Monde, Cinco Dias, Selskaya Zhizn.
-- TEXTLINE: NORTH/CENTRAL/SOUTH AMERICAN NEWS (File 774) -- U.S., Canadian, and Latin American newspapers and newswires such as the BBC Monitoring Service/Latin America, Gazeta Mercantil, and the Financial Post.
-- TEXTLINE: MIDEAST/AFRICAN NEWS (File 775) -- Preeminent news sources originating in the Middle East and Africa, including the Middle East Economic Survey, Israel Business Today, and Financial Mail (South Africa).
-- TEXTLINE: ASIAN/AUSTRALIAN NEWS (File 776) -- Leading newspapers and newswires from the Pacific Rim. Titles include Business Taiwan, Bankok Post, Xirhua News, Australian Financial Review, and the New Zealand Herald.
-- TEXTLINE: WORLDWIDE JOURNALS (File 777) -- Prominent weekly and monthly journals from the United Kingdom and the United States. The journals target special subject areas such as banking and finance, insurance and investment, retailing, engineering, electronics, construction, and aerospace and defense.
Its international focus makes TEXTLINE a valuable resource for anyone dealing in the global economy. Applications for the TEXTLINE files include:
-- Analyzing the economic climate of a country for a new product launch
-- Identifying venture capital and investment opportunities in emerging economies
-- Studying a competitor's product development and marketing activities
-- Obtaining background information on leading international figures
-- Staying appraised of international news events
-- Accessing commentary on political, economic, and environmental issues
-- Monitoring technology-driven industries such as biomedical, chemical, engineering, aerospace, defense, and pharmaceuticals
-- Researching market opportunities for exporting or joint venture production facilities
