TEXSCAN ANNOUNCES NEW CONTRACTS

EL PASO, Texas, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Texscan Corporation (AMEX: TSX) announced that it's Op-Tech division, which secured contracts valued at $1.6 million in January, has received further contract awards totaling $870,000.
The latest order is for a fiber optic video transmission system for Glasgow Underground in Scotland. This is the UK's largest subterranean railway outside of London. The system relays 83 color video signals from 15 stations back to a central control room where passenger safety and security can be monitored. The system is configured into dual transmission paths in order to counteract equipment or cable faults, thus ensuring maximum reliability on a safety critical system.
Additional orders have been placed for Passenger Help Points to be installed at the Liverpool Street Station on the London Underground network. The order was sanctioned by the London Underground following trials of the equipment.
These systems are an important breakthrough into new products for Op-Tech and are designed to provide emergency call facilities and information via an audio link to a central station supervisor. These contracts are part of the London Underground's continuing Station Modernization and Refurbishment Program with these stations becoming showcase sites.
The third area of order input comes from further additions to London's Docklands Light Railway to provide additional safety and alarm features in elevators and on station platforms. The Docklands contract continues to provide Op-Tech with increased orders.
Texscan Op-Tech's Technical Director, John Aston, affirmed that "the award of these railway related contracts confirms the industry's recognition of the reliability of Texscan's system design expertise."
Headquartered in El Paso, Texas, Texscan Corporation is a leading manufacturer of electronic advertising insertion equipment, CATV distribution electronics and is a large-scale, fiber optic systems integrator for road, subway and railway applications.
