TEXAS HILL COUNTRY WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 2-5, 1992
AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 2,000 food and wine connoisseurs from around the country and state will gather on April 2-5 in Austin to celebrate one of the nation's premier culinary events: the 7th Annual Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival.
Originating in 1985, the festival was created as a forum for consumers, producers, restaurateurs, food critics, writers, teachers and industry personnel to spotlight the spectacular culinary talents and prestigious emerging wineries of the Texas Hill Country. Over the years, the festival has also stimulated economic growth within Texas and the Texas food industry.
The three day event will kick off with a dinner and celebration honoring Andre Tchelistcheff, America's most celebrated wine master. Other events include: a spotlight on the Hill Country's best restaurants and sampling of signature dishes from around the state, a Fine Wine and Charity Auction featuring Domaine Carneros Sparkling Wine, a full day of wine and food workshops, the annual Dallas Morning News Who's Who in Food and Wine in Texas awards presentation, a Celebrity Chef Gala Dinner and Dance featuring Texas' most noted chefs, and on Sunday, a Food and Wine Fair featuring a full day of tasting and cooking seminars.
The main beneficiaries of the festival are KMFA Radio in Austin, one of only 18 purely classical stations in the United States and KLRU, Public Television for Central Texas.
Chief support for the festival comes from the Rosewood Vineyards, Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association, Whole Foods Market, The Discover Card, Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas Department of Commerce, Southwest Airlines, H-E-B Food Stores, Mobilnet, National Telecommunications, Texas Beef Industry Council and many others.
All events of the festival are open to anyone who is interested in food and wine. A festival three-day program package is $250.00; individual event tickets are available for $25 - $125.00. Tchelistcheff's dinner and hotel rooms are not included in the price of the ticket. A limited number of tickets are available for the festival; attendees should call ahead to order tickets by phone.
A private tour of Austin food manufacturers and an inside look at the hottest tastes in Texas will be held for the press on Friday morning, April 3.
