TEXAS EASTERN TRANSMISSION CORPORATION NAMES JOHN MEESKE TO BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT POST

HOUSTON, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- C. John Meeske has joined Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation as director of business development.
He assumes all marketing and development responsibilities for the previously announced Minuteman pipeline project, a high-pressure natural gas delivery system for electric generation and local distribution company customers in the New England market region. "The reception of the Minuteman concept by the market has been encouraging," said Dick Perkins, senior vice president of marketing. "Texas Eastern is fortunate to have a person of John's experience and reputation join us as we bring Minuteman to the marketplace."
Meeske owned and operated a management consulting firm in Massachusetts for the past two years that developed natural gas business strategies for producers, marketers, distributors, electric generators and end-users. He was associated with Cabot Corporation from 1978-1991, where his last position was manager of market development and regulatory affairs for Cabot's LNG division in Boston.
Meeske is a graduate of the University of Michigan and earned a masters of business administration degree from the University of Detroit in 1969.
Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation is a subsidiary of Panhandle Eastern Corporation (NYSE: PEL), America's natural gas transportation company, which operates one of the nation's largest interstate natural gas pipeline systems, providing natural gas transportation and related services to the Midwest and Northeast markets.
