TEXAS EASTERN TRANSMISSION CORPORATION ANNOUNCES CAPACITY RELEASE AND LINK(R) SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION DATES

HOUSTON, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation will implement its capacity release program on Thursday, May 20, for customers using the LINK(R) electronic customer interface system for June 1993 business. Texas Eastern expects to activate the entire LINK(R) computer- based pipeline information system on May 21.
"We're excited about implementing our capacity release mechanism and the fully integrated spectrum of LINK(R) services to meet Texas Eastern's June 1 implementation of Order 636 restructured services," said Diane T. Tom, vice president of marketing services and business development for Texas Eastern. "We'll work to ensure a smooth transition for our customers and look to upgrade the system as the market evolves."
This week, Texas Eastern is providing all its customers a complete information guide about releasing capacity along its 9,000-mile, interstate natural gas pipeline system.
The capacity release reference guide includes a system map and summaries of requirements ranging from credit to LINK(R) System procedures. For copies of the guide or a nomination and allocation handbook previously sent to customers, or general information about the LINK(R) System and Texas Eastern's Order 636 services, call 713-627- 4734.
Texas Eastern also plans to offer a 1-800 telephone line for users with questions about the on-line capacity release program.
Under the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Order 636, interstate natural gas pipelines are required to offer a capacity release mechanism for customers to post available capacity for other parties to acquire through a bidding process.
Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation is a subsidiary of Panhandle Eastern Corporation (NYSE: PEL), which operates one of the nation's largest interstate natural gas pipeline systems, providing natural gas transportation and related services to the Midwest and Northeast markets.
