TERADYNE WINS $4.7 MILLION NAVY CONTRACT FOR SOFTWARE
BOSTON, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradyne (NYSE: TER) has won a

$4.7 million contract from the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in Washington, D.C., to supply test development and programming software for use in various Navy programs. The contract includes more than $3.9 million of LASAR V6 simulation software and $750,000 of VX test system software and postprocessing software. Under the terms of the contract, NAVAIR has a five-year option to buy additional licenses, software support, upgrades, and new technology from Teradyne.
The Teradyne software will be used to provide logistic support for test systems at Naval Aviation Depots and to develop new test programs for the Navy's CASS (Consolidated Automatic Support Systems) testers. Teradyne also supplies the Digital Test Units (DTU) used in the CASS family of modular test systems, which will be deployed on Navy aircraft carriers, at Naval Aviation Depots, and at other naval electronics repair facilities. Under the right-to-copy terms of the contract, NAVAIR can install Teradyne software on a variety of platforms and in varying configurations to support test requirements at nine NAVAIR depot and development sites. The contract's flexibility allows server and workstation licenses to be transferred or upgraded to accomodate changes in weapons programs or computer resources.
LASAR and other software products are developed and sold by Teradyne's Electronic Design Automation Group, based in Boston and in Santa Clara, Calif.
Teradyne is a diversified manufacturer of test systems, software, and connection systems. Its stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (symbol: TER).
