TERADYNE RECEIVES ORDER FROM CZECH REPUBLIC FOR LINE TEST EQUIPMENT

BOSTON, Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradyne (NYSE: TER) reported today that SPT Telecom, the Czech Republic telephone company, has ordered Teradyne 4TEL(R) telephone line test equipment valued at over $500,000 for the Ostrava region. The 4TEL system will be used to enhance the fast developing Czech telephone network, which includes a mix of analog and digital switches.
This will be the second installation in the Republic for Teradyne. It follows the successful completion of the 4TEL system project in Brno, one of the largest operational districts in Moravia.
In August, Teradyne was awarded a contract by the Deutsche Bundespost Telekom to equip the German national network's 35 million customer lines. This contract, together with the orders received from both the Czech and Slovak Republics, will bring the total number of lines under test with Teradyne systems to some 89 million.
The 4TEL system, produced by Teradyne's Telecommunications Division in Deerfield, Ill., automatically tests telephone lines on a daily basis to detect problems, and it provides diagnostic instructions for preventive maintenance.
Teradyne is a major manufacturer of automatic test equipment for the electronics and telecommunications industries, with sales of over $500 million. Its stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
