 GILBERT/COMMONWEALTH FOSSIL/HYDRO CONTRACT
 READING, Pa., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Gilbert/Commonwealth (G/C), a leading consulting engineering company, announced today that it has been awarded a contract from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to provide support services for its entire system of fossil and hydroelectric stations.
 TVA's board of directors approved the three-year contract, which includes the option for two additional two-year extensions, at its meeting Tuesday.
 G/C will handle engineering services at all of TVA's 11 fossil plants, 29 hydroelectric stations and 48 gas turbine units in five states. Work will be performed at the company's Southeast Regional Headquarters in Oak Ridge, Tenn., a new office in Chattanooga, Tenn., and its headquarters in Reading. The contract is valued at up to $47 million over three years.
 The engineering firm said work is expected to begin immediately. G/C has been providing engineering services to TVA's fossil power system since 1987 and has supported the power producer in other areas since 1979.
 Gilbert/Commonwealth, Inc. is a subsidiary of Gilbert Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: GILBA), also headquartered in Reading.
