TENNESSEE EASTMAN WINS INAUGURAL YORK INTERNATIONAL REFRIGERANT LEADERSHIP AWARD

 CHICAGO, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- York International Corp. (NYSE: YRK) presented its inaugural York International Refrigerant Leadership Award today to the Tennessee Eastman Division of Eastman Chemical Co., a division of Eastman Kodak Co. (NYSE: EK) based in Kingsport, Tenn.
 The award recognizes Tennessee Eastman for its "outstanding program of refrigerant management and phaseout of ozone-depleting CFCs." Briefly, the company is part way through a $45 million program to better maintain, repair, retrofit and ultimately replace 42 air conditioning and refrigeration systems which use chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants.
 "It's a tremendous program ... well planned and well executed. It should be regarded as an industry model," noted York International Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert N. Pokelwaldt in presenting the award to Tennessee Eastman President William Garwood. The presentation was made here in conjunction with the annual winter meeting of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute.
 The York International Refrigerant Leadership Award will be presented periodically to air conditioning and refrigeration equipment owners who are demonstrating leadership in the areas of refrigerant management and CFC abatement through one or more of the following kinds of activities.
 -- An active program of refrigerant conservation and reclamation;
 -- A comprehensive plan for repair, retrofit and/or replacement of all CFC-using equipment;
 -- A proven record of converting existing CFC equipment to acceptable alternatives;
 -- A written policy specifying future purchases only of non-CFC systems;
 -- An engineering/purchasing system that encourages evaluation of multiple non-CFC solutions for each air conditioning or refrigeration application.
 York International is a major, worldwide supplier of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and offers the industry's broadest line of non-CFC equipment as well as a full range of refrigerant management products and services.
