BORO'S Brazilian star Juninho put his international career back on the rails - and reached a personal milestone. The 30-year-old playmaker earned his 50th cap in Brazil's 1-0 defeat of Jamaica at Leicester. It was Juninho's first appearance for his country since the 2002 World Cup finals and should put him in the frame for Brazil's crucial qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay next month.

Juninho came off the bench in the second half and played the final 21 minutes.

A CHEF from Middlesbrough was hoping to curry favour with judges at a national competition.

Sultan Mohamed, from the Masala restaurant on Borough Road, won the northern heat of the National Curry Chef Competition. It was the fifth time in six years the restaurant had taken the title. He then went on battle it out with seven other regional winners, and last year's champion, for the honour of being named the nation's best curry chef.

BIKE riders got into gear at an annual motor show in Redcar.

More than 125 classic, modern and vintage motorbikes were on show at Redcar Bowl. Run by Redcar and Cleveland Council, the Middlesbrough and District Motorbike Club and the Teesside Yesteryear Motor Club, the show has been going for 22 years.

The stars of this year's event included the vehicle which holds the record for the Saltburn Hill Climb, a 1926 Calthorpe bike, and a 1936 Model 40 350 Norton.
