 TELEPORT DENVER PRESIDENT FATALLY INJURED;
 BECKER NAMED ACTING PRESIDENT
 DENVER, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Intertel Communications Inc. (AMEX: ITR.EC; Vancouver: IRT) announced that A.J. "Joe" Moreland, president of its operating subsidiary, Teleport Denver Ltd., was fatally injured today in an automobile accident.
 Moreland, 56, was named president of Teleport Denver in May. W.W. "Bill" Becker, president and chairman of the board of Intertel, will act as president of Teleport Denver until a successor can be named.
 "Obviously, words cannot express the loss we all feel at this moment," said Becker. "All of us at the company want to extend our sympathy to his family.
 "We also want to pledge to our customers, employees and shareholders that the leadership Joe quickly established at the company will continue. This tragic loss will only increase our resolve to continue in his example," said Becker.
 Becker said the company's executive committee of senior management will continue to implement the company's business plan. "Fortunately, we have significant management depth to continue forward, which is what Joe would have wanted," he said.
 Intertel is the first publicly traded alternate local access company and full service teleport in the United States.
