 TELEPHONE AND DATA SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES
 FOURTH QUARTER DIVIDEND FOR 1991
CHICAGO, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (AMEX: TDS) has declared a fourth quarter dividend of $.075 per share. This represents a 7.1 percent increase from the fourth quarter 1990 dividend. Payment will be made on Dec. 27, 1991, to common and Series A common shareowners of record on Dec. 13, 1991.
LeRoy T. Carlson Jr., president, stated, "This dividend reflects your company's sound financial position and continuing practice of paying a dividend consistent with our telephone operating performance."
TDS' wholly owned telephone subsidiary, TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS Telecom), continues to grow steadily. TDS Telecom has added six telephone companies representing over 9,700 access lines through the first nine months of 1991. With the completion of three pending acquisitions, TDS Telecom will surpass 303,000 access lines in service.
United States Cellular Corp. (USM), TDS' 81.7-percent-owned cellular telephone subsidiary, served over 85,200 consolidated cellular customers at Sept. 30, 1991, in 50 majority-owned markets, which include 28 metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) and 22 rural service areas (RSAs). Including a recent strategic trade, USM and TDS own or have the right to acquire cellular interests in 74 MSAs and 99 RSAs, representing 17.5 million population equivalents.
American Paging, Inc. (API), TDS' wholly owned paging subsidiary, served over 234,100 pagers through 25 systems at Sept. 30, 1991.
