TELEPAD DELIVERS TOTAL FIELD FORCE COMPUTING FOR BUSINESS AND GOVERNMENT

RESTON, Va., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- TelePad Corporation (NASDAQ: TPADA), a leader in Field Force Computing, announces the availability of the TelePad SL. The TelePad SL is a complete mobile communications and computing solution for work forces in td?. This product introduction is the result of two years of extensive field testing with clients in business and government.
TelePad's solutions are a total shift from the desktop paradigm. "The TelePad SL, for example, demonstrates that power does not need to be compromised for portability," said Ron Oklewicz, president & CEO of TelePad Corporation. "This is not a shrunken desktop. We created the Telepad SL from the mobile worker's perspective - optimizing for portability, communications, and an interface that's natural to the field worker."
TelePad provides custom and complete solutions for mission critical Field Force Computing. The first product implementation of that strategy, the TelePad SL is easy to use, compatible with an organization's existing architecture, and proven to be a cost effective way to improve productivity.
Built on the industry standard Intel processor, the TelePad SL features a pen interface, is MS-Windows based and includes a PCMCIA Type II slot for Global Positioning Systems (GPS), wireless radio communication, and other applications. Other features include a bright, backlit display and a long-life battery. A keyboard, printer, external floppy drive, and a digital camera are available.
"Our goal was to create an interface that was natural for the field force worker. The pen was the logical choice for the TelePad SL," said Scott Dankman, chairman of the board and the creator of the TelePad SL. "We spent a lot of time on the communications capabilities because we truly wanted a `works anywhere' solution."
Companies and government agencies with large field forces have already implemented the TelePad SL in mission critical applications. U.S. Air Force contract performance inspectors are using the mobile TelePad SL, custom software, remote communications, and host databases in a nationwide quality assurance program. Corporate customers in the aerospace, utilities, food and beverage, and transportation industries are using TelePad SLs to speed service and improve accuracy. With the TelePad SL, sales representatives, engineers, and repair people can locate their next service call, access information ranging from maps and diagrams to repair histories, order needed parts, generate invoices and transmit reports back to headquarters once the job is complete.
"People who try the TelePad SL get so excited that they immediately see the potential for broad based mission critical field force computing applications," said Oklewicz. "And that's what TelePad is all about."
